Holistic approval boosts leading HIUs hot water credentials

Having always been able to demonstrate compliance with WRAS/KIWA requirements for water safety, the H2 Heat Interface Units offered by Stokvis Energy Systems have now been granted overarching certification through the regulatory scheme.

The consolidated approval was awarded following exhaustive tests at the Water Research Advisory Scheme’s laboratories, so that the product portfolio now offers consultants and contractors involved with the creation of communal or district heating schemes the ultimate confidence.

The WRAS certificate number 1612305 will remain valid for five years until December 2021 and covers the Stokvis Econoplate H2, H2-24/14, H2-24/24 and H2-24/40 Heat Exchangers.

In essence, the testing confirms that the non-metallic materials used in the construction of the various H2 models – in particular the gaskets – will not contaminate ‘wholesome’ water intended for domestic use. This certification also confirms that the H2 range, when correctly installed, will not contravene the Water Supply Regulations and byelaws in any part of the UK.

As a major supplier of boilers, cascade systems, plate heat exchangers, solar hot water panels and other high efficiency equipment including the H2 models of HIU, Stokvis Energy Systems has wide experience of these energy saving heat networks; and the many advantages they offer.

Commenting on the expanded approval for the H2 units, Stokvis Energy Systems’ Director, Paul Sands explained: “The heat interface units we have been supplying to the market for the past four years have all been manufactured using fully WRAC/KIWA approved components, under strictly controlled ISO 9001 factory conditions: ensuring the water delivered at shower heads or taps was totally safe or potable. Now, though, the new testing confirms this as a full system approval on these hot water only HIUs.

“The HIUs have also been made more serviceable in that the key components are now easier to access and demount as necessary; and they remain amongst the few such units available that are British made.

“Furthermore, this is a very important and rapidly growing market, enabling those who live in, or operate apartment buildings and other complexes, to do away with the risks and inefficiencies of individual gas boilers in every dwelling. And instead switch to shared boilers or possibly renewables, including heat pumps and solar panels, so that far greater energy efficiency can be enjoyed by all residents.”

The H2 is part of a comprehensive selection of HIUs supplied by Stokvis Energy Systems able to provide heating and hot water within apartments, sheltered accommodation and other dwellings. The company offers full design and technical back up to ensure the units are correctly matched to the heat networks’ demands to secure maximum efficiency, as well as occupant comfort.
